Step 1. Kick-off Assembly

Ready, Set, Action!
Volunteer Time = 8-10 hours
The Cool the Earth program launches with a school-wide assembly featuring an age-appropriate play performed by the school’s teachers, parents and students. Characters such as Koda the polar bear, Earth and Mother Nature act out scenes explaining how human activities are raising levels of carbon dioxide and giving the earth a global warming “fever.” By the end of the play, all the kids are excited to get rid of the villain, Mr. Carbon, save the lovable Koda and take specific actions to reduce their carbon emissions.
As Easy as 1,2,3
Cool the Earth provides the script, costumes and instructions to put on the play; schools provide the actors. Having the school’s own teachers and students perform the play strengthens engagement in the program. When students see Mr. Carbon or Koda on campus, they’re continually reminded to save energy.
